Hi, Gemma & Kate here. Thanks for looking us up!

We are two people sat in a fancy shed in a small Suffolk town. We like to think we’re nice folks, and we also happen to be recruitment experts, too…

At Horizon, we believe in good recruitment, modern recruitment with an old-school touch. Working with us, you’ll receive a service with integrity, honesty, effectiveness, and personality.

Our expertise is people; getting to know you and your unique skill set and personality. Learning about each organisation we work with, and the people that make them truly individual.

Gemma has spent just over 20 years working in recruitment and set up Horizon in 2011. Kate joined her a few months in, and the rest is history! Gemma

Joining the Industry in 2001, Gemma has a genuine passion for helping others. She is in possession of very green fingers so loves her garden and growing beautiful plants, flowers and veg! She and her husband Andrew are madly into music and enjoy making their own homemade ciders, wines, and chutneys. Other big things in Gemma's life are zumba, chilling in her hot tub, spending time with her family, and cooking! Romanian rescue dog Fern keeps her very busy too.

Kate

Kate joined Horizon in 2011 as a trainee after studying design at university and now co-runs Horizon alongside Gemma. Outside of work, she loves music, food, film, yoga, swimming, making things, design, art, and spending time with her friends and family including her Husband Tom and cat Lenny. She also runs two small businesses and a not-for-profit market event organisation on the side, too. No rest for the wicked!

2011

Horizon is set up by Founder Gemma in Bury St Edmunds before moving to a little office in Botesdale, near Diss

2012

April 2012 sees our team changes shape with Kate becoming a rookie Consultant!

2013

Our first office dog Emily joins us; thankfully she is deaf so puts up with all of our noise!

2014

May 2014 saw a record-breaking month for turnover; much excitement was had by all at Horizon HQ!

2015

We invested in a new recruitment database, Firefish. This gave us a new jobs page and another way for candidates to apply for our jobs.

2016

We turn 5 years old and celebrate with a taking the team for a big posh lunch!

2017

We move to our new office in Badwell Ash. It’s rural, it’s roomy and we love it!

2018

Our new website is built lovingly by Unity Online. It had been long overdue and much needed!

2019

After changes to the team and a long, big think we decide that the foreseeable future of Horizon is just Gemma & Kate. It just makes sense and is strangely liberating! We also move into a new, smaller office in Bury St Edmunds.

2020

We partner up with long-time work acquaintance Jenna Gorham of Sky HR Ltd. This means discounts and super streamlined services for clients looking to work with a linked HR and recruitment service provider. Exciting! Oh, and there was a global pandemic…

2021

What a funny year. With Kate furloughed for a portion of the year, Gemma held the fort and took on a few mega exciting new clients. Kate returned and we soon settled back into our normal routine. By the Autumn there’s a new dog in the office; little Fern the noisy but adorable Romanian rescue! In 2021 both Gemma and Kate celebrate milestone ‘work birthdays’ – Gemma 20 years in recruitment, and Kate 10 years!

2022

After a strange 2 years, 2022 almost feels like we’re back to normality. A full year of busy business, working with clients new and old. We were surprised not to be too affected by the pandemic. The year was mixed with relief about business being stable but also a bit of sadness as in the summer, Kate lost her dog, Joy – a much-loved part of our office life who will be very missed.
